Which Pest is it?

Many people don’t realize the importance of proactive plant health care until their plants are visually affected and showing signs of sickness. Unfortunately, at this point the problem may be entering an advanced stage. The more advanced the pest issue is, the harder it is to control- just like with your own health. So, how can you be proactive and tell if you need plant health care in your landscape?

There are a plethora of organisms that can cause destruction in your garden. An effective plant health care prescription begins with identifying what plants you have, and the pests that they are up against. We can diagnose most pest issues with an initial walk-through of your property and many times we find issues that haven’t reached the stage of visibly affecting the plant. We also prescribe preventative care. If you have a species that is highly susceptible to a particular pest, we will make sure it is protected.

There are many variables that can come into play when determining your plant’s vulnerability to pests. Soil type and drainage, fertility, available sunlight, and past chemical or salt exposure can all impact the plant’s ability to defend itself. Some years, due to weather conditions or a host of other factors, a pest infestation just runs rampant through the entire area. The army worms we experienced in turf last summer are a prime example. We take everything that may affect your plants and trees into account and prescribe a personalized plant health care plan.

We don’t follow a blanket approach to plant health care, landscapes aren’t a monoculture like a turf. We tailor each treatment to your particular plant species and the conditions they face. Benefits to this approach include being softer on beneficial insects and your ecosystem, less chemical usage, and not having to pay for treatments that won’t work or aren’t necessary.

With a complex understanding of all plant species, the pests that affect them, and the conditions they thrive in, we are your plant health care specialists. At Green Fuse, we have years of knowledge and practical experience in managing pests and plant health. Our comprehensive plant health care plans will give you the peace of mind that your garden has the protection it needs to thrive.
